Minimum age to use the range is 12 - with adult supervision.
You must have in your possession a valid Illinois FOID Card or out of state Concealed Carry Permit or be under the direct supervision of an adult with either of these ID's.
You must fill out the firearms experience and range waiver before entering the range. If you have never shot before please let us know so we can assist you.
If you are pregnant or believe you may be pregnant you cannot enter the range.
If you have consumed any alcoholic beverages or have used any controlled substance in the last 8 hours you cannot enter the range.
If you are a felon you cannot enter the range under any circumstances and should not be in possession of a firearm.
No food or drink is permitted inside the shooting range. (Including chewing gum)
No smoking or chewing tobacco is permitted in this building.
You must wash your hands using the soap provided using cold water when leaving the range.
Firearms Brought In To Pelchers
All firearms brought in to Pelcher Outdoors must be unloaded and in a case. (NOT just a holster) Law Enforcement on duty is the only exception.
All guns must stay unloaded and in a case unless handled by Pelchers staff.
Vandalism
Any person found to be firing at anything other than a paper target (target carriers, lights, etc.) will be found financially and criminally responsible and if need be reported to the proper authorities for appropriate action.
Targets will be mounted on target frames provided.
Only targets provided by or approved by Pelchers are permitted.
Cross firing at targets in a different lane is prohibited.
Firearms
All firearms should be in good working order and must be checked by Pelchers Shooters Supply staff prior to entering the range.
We do NOT allow anything other than pistol caliber to be shot in the range.
Ammunition
Steel & Aluminum Cased ammunition is not permitted for use on the range.
Any reloaded or other ammunition may be barred from the range at the discretion of Pelchers staff.
Any ammuntion that is designed to penetrate steel is prohibited.
Shotguns may only shoot slugs on the range.
No tracer rounds, incendiary gas, or explosive ammunition is permitted on the range.
Absolutely no surplus or foreign military ammuntion is permitted.
In the Range
All persons utilizing the range facilities are required to read the range rules and sign a waiver before being permitted to use the range.
A responsible adult with an Illinois FOID card or out of state Carry License is required to accompany a minor on the range. This responsbile adult must remain with the minor at all times and act as a "coach" while utilizing the range.
Only one shooter and one "coach" are permitted at each shooting station.
Firearms are not to be passed back and forth between booths for any reason. Shooters may switch but firearms cannot.
Persons not shooting or coaching are not permitted in the range.
Persons utilizing the range are not permitted to step in front of the firing line for any reason.
All equipment left unattended is left at the owners' risk.
Firing Line Procedures
You will shoot only from and at the position assigned to you.
All firearms must be pointed down range at all times.
The gun must remain upright, level, and vertical at all times.
Shooters must load and unload their own firearms while keeping the muzzle pointed down range.
No loaded firearms are to be handed to one another. A loaded firearm must be set on the table in the booth pointed down range if transferring shooters.
Only one firearm should be loaded at a time.
Firearms must be unloaded and cased when outside of the booths.
Only line-of-sight shooting is permitted. No hip or snap shooting.
No rapid fire is permitted on the range.
When leaving the firing line, the firearm must be left unloaded, action open, and pointed down range.
When you are leaving the range your firearms must be unloaded and in a case.
If your firearm malfunctions, jams, etc and you cannot fix the problem follow the directions by the phone to get assistance from Pelchers staff.
Shooters are responsible for cleaning up their shooting station of all brass and trash before leaving. Brass must be swept in front of the firing line and trash must be thrown in the garbage can.
All targets must be adjusted to be at eye level of the shooter. No shooting at targets that are moving or unlevel.
You may pick up your own brass to take with you but all other brass is property of the range.
Rental Firearms
Rental guns require you to fill out a rental qualification form.
Nobody alone without a firearm in their possession is permitted to rent a firearm.
All rental firearms will be unloaded, action open, and in a case when given to you and must be returned in that state.
All rental guns must use ammo purchased at Pelcher Outdoors.
When the rental firearm is returned and inspected for damaged your identification will be returned.
Ear, Eye Protection, & Clothing
It is obligatory that all persons on the range wear approved safety glasses and full hearing protection
It is obligatory that all persons on the range wear a baseball style cap to protect hot brass from getting behind your safety glasses
For your own safety, no tank tops, shirts with collars or open pockets, shorts, sandals, open toe or high healed shoes may be worn on the range.
Miscellaneous
Your range time runs out when you leave the Pelcher Outdoors property.
All guns are to be considered loaded until checked for empty and clear.
Never allow the muzzle of a firearm to point in an unsafe direction
Keep your finger off the trigger unless the gun at eye level and sights are on the target.
Shooting from a standing position only, no kneeling or prone shooting allowed.
